Police Scotland Chief Inspector of Road Policing Mark Patterson stressed the force’s commitment to tackling behaviour which puts staff within Police Scotland Safety Cameras at risk.

He said: “Our mobile camera enforcement officers have the right to do their job safely without fear of abuse or injury and reckless or abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. Such behaviour can not only cause physical harm to police staff, but also to members of the public travelling on our roads.

“Offenders will face arrest and prosecution and I urge both motorists and passengers to consider their behaviour and the possible consequences.

“I request the support and co-operation of the public to ensure safer roads and working environments for police staff.”
