A vast city site with potential for new homes is being offered for sale.

The administrator is selling the former base of the collapsed glazing company behind landmarks like Queen Street and Waverley rail stations.

JLL is marketing the sale of the Edinburgh site on behalf of Shona Campbell, of Henderson Loggie in her capacity as administrator of Charles Henshaw & Sons Limited.

The site covers 1.8 acres and there is a closing date set for unconditional offers.

The agent said the site offers an alternative use redevelopment opportunity, including build-to-rent residential or purpose-built student accommodation, subject to consent.

Jason Hogg, head of JLL Edinburgh office and development, said: "Russell Road is an interesting part of the city that has improved significantly due to the council’s £17m cyclelink between Roseburn and Fountainbridge.

"The redevelopment of the Henshaw site is set to continue the evolution of this area. The sale has attracted interest from a wide variety of developers who are investigating alternative use opportunities including residential, student and elderly living.

"We have set a closing date for 5th December and will be interested to see what we receive on the day."
