A new scheme has been launched to bring events into Aberdeen city centre.

The City Centre Events Grant Scheme encourages and supports businesses to host events that will contribute towards Aberdeen’s vibrancy as well as enhancing community spirit and supporting the local economy.

Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Ian Yuill said: “This is a great opportunity for businesses to get involved in creating a fun and exciting atmosphere, as well as encouraging more people to visit our city centre.

“I would like to see as many businesses as possible get involved in this new scheme and create new events which all ages can get involved in.”

Businesses can apply for awards of £250 for individual businesses organising an event for 10 attendees or more, or £750 for two or more businesses organising a free community event.

Businesses can apply for a city centre grant towards "exciting and creative events" such as food markets for local producers, craft workshops and fashion shows, Aberdeen City Council said.

This Grant Scheme is part of the Business Toolkit, an intervention of the Vibrant and Sustainable City Pilot, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Applications will be accepted until February 28 next year.
