A 62-year-old man has been charged in connection with a crash near Glasgow Central Station involving a taxi earlier this month.

The incident left three pedestrians needing hospital treatment after the incident on Union Street at the junction with Gordon Street around 1.50pm on Saturday, October 5.

Emergency services were called to the scene and three females, aged 60 and 61, were taken to hospital while a 50-year-old woman was treated at the scene after being assessed by paramedics.

The driver of the taxi – aged 62 – also needed hospital treatment and he has been charged in connection with road traffic offences and is due to appear in court at a later date.

The current conditions of all of the people involved remain unknown at this stage.

A statement from Police Scotland said: “A man has been charged in connection with a crash involving a taxi and four pedestrians in Glasgow. 

“Emergency services were called to the collision on Union Street at the junction with Gordon Street around 1.50pm on Saturday, 5 October, 2024. 

 “Three female pedestrians, a 60-year-old and two aged 61, were taken to hospital for treatment. A 50-year-old woman was assessed by paramedics at the scene. 

 “The 62-year-old driver of the taxi was also treated in hospital. He has been charged in connection with road traffic offences and is due to appear in court at a later date.”
