An acclaimed chef has announced his new role as executive chef at a Scottish spa hotel following the closure of his solo venture in Edinburgh.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Dan Ashmore had opened ASKR restaurant in Leith with the support of fellow chef and restaurant group owner, Dean Banks.
He brought with him experience of holding high-ranking positions in many of Scotland’s top kitchens, including Number One at The Balmoral, Gleneagles, and Dean Banks at the Pompadour.

Ashmore this week shared a statement saying that 'all good things must come to an end' as well as anouncing his departure from the Dean Banks group.
Banks later released a statement on social media confirming the closure of ASKR.
He said: "It was a pleasure to support Dan Ashmore as he opened his first solo venture, ASKR, in Leith.
"In the current climate, it is incredibly difficult for independent restaurants to survive, never mind thrive, with ASKR sadly becoming one of the latest casualties of our current government.
"We wish Dan every success in the future with his next role."

After wishing Banks the best, stating that he "couldn't think of better people to go through these tough times with", Ashmore today revealed a new appointment at the Schloss Roxburghe hotel by Kelso in the Scottish borders.
He said: "I’m excited to say I’ll be joining the fantastic Schloss Roxburghe as Executive Chef in November.
"Hotels in the countryside have always held a special place in my heart since starting my career at Fishers Baslow, and especially working at the one and only Gleneagles.
"I look forward to putting my stamp on the culinary offering in the iconic property."
Schloss Roxburghe is part of the exclusive Destination by Hyatt collection.
With over 300 acres of land including 2.5 miles of the River Teviot, Trout Loch, parkland and Estate gardens, the hotel is said to be the perfect place to "enjoy nature and the great outdoors".
The space is currently home to two restaurants as well as a speciality whisky and gin bar.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
