ScotRail has unveiled plans to bolster its team of engineers across the country to help keep train services in the north of the country on track.

The four-time accredited Top Employer is hiring skilled engineers at its Corkerhill, Shields, Haymarket and Inverness depots.

With salaries starting from £47,338 and increasing to £53,039 after completion of training, this is a great opportunity for skilled mechanical and electrical engineers to keep one of the UK’s largest railway networks in operation and provide nearly 100 million passenger journeys per year.

ScotRail has four maintenance depots throughout Scotland responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of more than 600 trains, which are maintained to the highest quality and engineering standards.

To be a ScotRail engineer, candidates must hold relevant electrical or mechanical qualifications and be familiar with quality management (ISO 9001) procedures.

Julie Dale, ScotRail HR Director, said: “We are excited to bring on talented engineers who share our passion for innovation and sustainability in public transport. It’s an excellent opportunity that provides high quality jobs which support the local economy and communities across the country.

“Our engineers are at the heart of what we do, ensuring we deliver a safe and reliable railway for our customers. Checking and maintaining our trains before they depart on their journeys is vital part in the essential service ScotRail provides for local people, visitors, and tourists.”
