Police marksmen were deployed after a woman was inured and a dog killed when they were attacked by other dogs in a public street. 

Armed officers were sent to High Street and Burns-Begg Street, Kinross, following the attack on Sunday

It is understood that four out-of-control dogs attacked as a woman walking her pet around 2:30pm. 

The dog was killed - and two others were injured and taken to a vet for treatment. The woman suffered injuries when she fell trying to protect her pet. 

She was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The attacking animals, believed to be pit bull-type dogs, were cornered in a house in the town and were taken away by specialist officers.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: Around 2.30pm on Sunday, 20 October, 2024, we were called to a report of three dogs having been attacked by other dogs on High Street and Burns Begg Street, Kinross. 

"One dog died and two others were injured and taken to the vet for treatment. A woman also suffered injuries when she fell and was treated at the scene for minor injuries. 

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 1865 of 20 October, 2024."
