A woman who died in a fatal road crash in Ayrshire has been named as 27-year-old Alana Muir from Darvel.
The incident happened on Thursday, October 17 at 11.05am on the A71 between Newmilns and Darvel. The crash involved a red Ford Focus Zetec and a silver Mercedes Vito, with Alana pronounced dead on the scene.
Emergency services had attended and a 24-year-old man, who was a passenger in the Ford that Alana was driving, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 52-year-old man, was taken to Crosshouse University Hospital in Kilmarnock with non-life-threatening injuries.
Sergeant Martin Cunningham said: “Our thoughts remain with Alana's family and friends at this very difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are asking anyone who saw what happened to please get in touch.
“In particular, if you were driving in the area at the time please check your dash-cam to see if you have anything that could help with our investigation.”
