Firearm officers were in attendance as a man was arrested over an incident in Paisley on Friday afternoon.

A 37-year-old has been arrested and charged after police were called to a property in the May Road area of the town at around 2.30pm on Friday afternoon.

Armed police officers were on site but it is understood they were there as a precaution only and there was no risk to the wider public.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 2.30pm on Friday, 18 October, 2024 officers were called to reports of concern for a man within a property in the May Road area of Paisley.

"Officers attended and the incident was contained with no risk to the wider public.

“A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection.

"He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court at a later date."
