A potential witness to a teenager being struck by a car is being sought by police.

The 18-year-old is in a “critical” condition in hospital after being hit by a car while walking on a footpath in Glasgow on Saturday evening.

Police Scotland said officers spoke to a member of the public who may have witnessed the incident and officers are keen to speak to that person again.

The 41-year-old male driver of the car and his three passengers were not injured.

Constable Scott MacKenzie, road policing unit, Greater Glasgow division said: “A member of the public who may have witnessed the incident was spoken to by officers at the time and officers are keen to speak to them again.”

He added: “This can be quite a busy junction and so we would ask anyone who was in the area, who has not yet spoken to officers but believes they may have information that could help our inquiry, to contact us.

“We would also be interested in any dashcam footage from the road at the time.”

The road was closed northbound for about seven and a half hours, and reopened at 3.35am on Sunday.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101 quoting incident number 3162 of Saturday October 12.
