ScotRail has unveiled plans to bolster its team of engineers in the Highlands to help keep train services in the north of the country on track. 

The rail operator is hiring skilled engineers at its Inverness Depot, with salaries starting from £47,338 and increasing to £53,039 after completion of training.

ScotRail has four maintenance depots throughout Scotland responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of more than 600 trains.

To be a ScotRail engineer, candidates must hold relevant electrical or mechanical qualifications and be familiar with quality management (ISO 9001) procedures.
