A man who died in a flat explosion in Alloa last week has been named.

Police have named 50-year-old Graham Green as the person who died in the fire and explosion that ripped through a flat in Kellie Place on Sunday 6 October.

Emergency services were called to the area in Clackmannanshire at around 6pm.

Part of the roof of the property was ripped off by the blast and a gaping hole has been left in the first floor of the building.

Three other people, a 72-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman were injured and taken to Forth Valley Hospital for treatment.

Although police have named Mr Green as the fatality in the incident, formal identification is still to take place, but his family has been informed.

Chief Inspector Kat Thompson, area commander, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Graham and all those affected at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries, alongside partner agencies, to establish the full circumstances of what happened, remain ongoing.

“A police presence will remain in the area and I would like to thank the local community for their understanding and support.”

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries into the cause of the incident remain ongoing.

However, it has since emerged that gas was ruled out as the cause.

A spokesperson for gas distribution company SGN said: “Our thoughts remain with everyone affected by the incident which took place on Sunday evening.

“After thorough investigation, we can confirm that the incident is not related to our gas network.

“Police Scotland and the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) are continuing their investigations into the cause.”
