Police have arrested a 44-year-old man as they investigated the death of a 36-year-old male in Ellon.
Officers were called to a property in Gordon Place at around 8.35pm on Wednesday, October 9 and were made aware of the death of Martin Forgie.
His family are being supported by specialist officers after being informed and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
In a statement released through Police Scotland, his family said: "Martin was a much loved son, brother, father, nephew, grandson and uncle. He will be greatly missed.
"We ask for our privacy as a family to be respected at this difficult time."
The 44-year-old has been arrested in connection with the death and enquiries are continuing.
Detective Inspector Rory Campbell said: "Our thoughts remain with Mr Forgie's family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
"Officers will remain in the area while enquiries are carried out.
