Two major tenants have signed up for one of Glasgow’s newest office developments.

FDM Group, the business and technology consultancy, and the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), have taken five-year leases at 140 West George Street, following deals struck by joint agents CBRE and Savills on behalf of Legal & General. The organisations have leased 2,090 square feet and 2,093 sq ft respectively.

FDM and the EHRC join Space Solutions and Handelsbanken in taking space at the building, following a comprehensive refurbishment which has delivered “best in class contemporary and sustainable workspaces” over 16,000 sq ft.

The property is designed with flexibility at its heart and brings Legal & General’s “capsule” concept to the city for the first time. Its fully fitted office suites come with meeting rooms and pods with hot desks for flexible working, and spacious break-out areas.

The now fully electric building has an A-rated energy performance certificate (EPC), and features electric vehicle charging points in the on-site car park, cycle racks and shower and changing facilities to encourage tenants to commute to work via "active travel".

Martin Speirs, associate director at CBRE, said: “The demand for high quality, fully fitted office space in Glasgow remains high, particularly in the sub-5,000 square feet market. Occupiers prioritise workspace that promotes health and well-being for their staff and Legal & General has responded directly to this demand through the considered refurbishment of 140 West George Street, creating best-in-class space in the Glasgow market.

“It’s fantastic to welcome FDM Group and EHRC, which have now moved into their new workspaces and are benefitting from an array of sustainability features, whilst enjoying great proximity to the best of Glasgow city centre.”
