International law firm Addleshaw Goddard has hired property development and investment specialist Martin Devine, who joins from Pinsent Masons, as a partner in its real estate team in Scotland.

Mr Devine is described by Addleshaw Goddard as “a prominent figure in the Scottish real estate market with wide-ranging development experience spanning the office, retail, industrial, residential - particularly build-to-rent - and life sciences sectors.”

Addleshaw Goddard, which has offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen among 19 locations globally, declared it is “top-ranked for real estate in Scotland by leading legal directory Chambers UK”.

It added: “Dual qualified to practise in Scotland and England, Martin's real estate financing work covers debt finance, forward funding and innovative delivery models such as tax increment financing. He works with institutional investors and private equity real estate funds, leading cross-border, large-scale portfolio mandates involving assets in the industrial, healthcare and hotel sectors as well as the purchase and sale of non-performing loan portfolios and residential mortgage books.

“He has extensive experience of major projects, such as advising Glasgow City Council on the proposed redevelopment of Buchanan Galleries in Glasgow.”

Mr Devine sat on the Scottish committee of the British Council for Offices from 2009 to 2022 and has been a member of the residential and investment management committee of the Scottish Property Federation since 2019.

He was also a founder member of the Association for Rental Living steering group in Scotland.
