Cineworld has announced that it will close one of its cinemas in Scotland this week.

Cineworld Glasgow Parkhead will close for good on Sunday.

It comes after a High Court judge ruled this week that the cinema operator could close some of its sites in a ‘restructuring plan’.

Staff informed cinemagoers of the "difficult decision" on Tuesday and said that members of the Unlimited club will receive an email with the next steps.

A Cineworld spokesperson said: "After years of providing movie-lovers with a place to feel more, we have made the difficult decision to close Cineworld Glasgow Parkhead.

"The cinema will remain open until October 6. If you’re an Unlimited member, please check your emails for an update.

"Thank you to all of you movie-loving customers for choosing us over the years. We hope you continue to enjoy watching movies at our local cinemas of Renfrew Street and Silverburn."
