Baby Reindeer, Dinosaur and Two Doors Down lead the nominations for BAFTA Scotland’s annual awards.
The full list of BAFTA Scotland nominations has been announced today, with the award ceremony set to take place in Glasgow on Sunday 17 November.
Hosted by Edith Bowman, and live-streamed on BAFTA’s Youtube, the ceremony is a night to celebrate and honour the creative excellence in broadcasting and production across film and television in Scotland.
Bowman said: “It’s an absolute joy to be back hosting the BAFTA Scotland Awards. My favourite night of the year. Year after year, I am blown away by the creativity and talent on show and I can’t wait to celebrate them all”.
The top nominated films and programmes this year are Dinosaur which received four nominations, Out of Darkness with three nominations, and Baby Reindeer, Girl, Is There Anybody Out There? and Two Doors Down, all of which receive two nominations.
The awards up for grabs are; Best Actor (Film), Best Actress (Film), Best Actor (Television), Best Actress (Television), Director Factual, Director Fiction, Entertainment, Factual Series, Feature Film, News and Current Affairs, Features, Short Film & animation, Single Documentary, Television Scripted, and Best Writer for Film/Televsion.
The performance categories feature first-time BAFTA Scotland nominees Safia Oakley-Green and Kit Young for Out of Darkness, Stephen McMillan for The Lesson, Khalid Abdalla for The Crown, Daniel Portman for Loch Henry (Black Mirror), Doon Mackichan for Two Doors Down and Nicola Walker for Annika.
Richard Gadd and Ashley Storrie are first-time dual BAFTA nominees. Both are nominated for their performances and writing for Baby Reindeer and Dinosaur respectively.
Across the 15 categories this year, five categories have been increased from three to four nominations, with bosses saying the change “reflects the exceptionally high volume of entries submitted”.

Jude MacLaverty, Director of BAFTA Scotland, added: “Our nominations this year reflect the incredible output and creativity that is possible with support for, and investment in, the Scottish screen industries, and the individuals whose craft and stories resonated with audiences in Scotland and around the world this past year.
“From first-time nominees to much-loved screen talent, it is so encouraging to see such a diverse range of nominees celebrated today. Congratulations to all and we look forward to celebrating our nominees and winners at the BAFTA Scotland Awards on Sunday 17 November”.
The nominations were determined through a combination of membership voting and dedicated juries comprised of industry professionals with relevant craft expertise.
Nominations for the BAFTA Scotland Audience Award, the only award determined by a public vote, will be announced on Friday 11 October with voting open the same day.
Two BAFTA Special Awards will also be presented at the awards ceremony on the night, with the recipients to be announced next month.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
