Hotels across Scotland have been recognised among the best in the world today as the Michelin Guide unveils a new ranking system.

Four years into a "comprehensive refresh" of its hotel section, the Michelin Guide has now introduced One, Two and Three Key distinctions to highlight the 'crème de la crème' of the industry.

Recipients of the awards have been visited by experts and judged excellent in five categories: architecture and interior design; quality and consistency of service; overall personality and character; value for the price; and a significant contribution to the guest experience in a particular setting.

Of the new distinctions, Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide: “The Michelin Key is a clear, reliable indication for travellers.

"Just as the Michelin Star distinguishes those restaurants that are at the peak of their art, the Michelin Key recognizes the most exceptional hotels throughout the world.

"It is also an acknowledgment of the teamwork of committed enthusiastic hospitality professionals.”

Announced today, Tuesday, October 1, the 2024 Michelin Guide hotel selection for Great Britain and Ireland includes 14 Three Key hotels, 37 Two Key hotels and 72 One Key hotels.
