It is one of the jewels in Scotland’s cultural crown and a massive tourist draw, generally clocking up well over two million visitors annually.

As one of the oldest buildings in Scotland and a history that includes executions, murders, and the imprisonment of prisoners of war, it's no surprise that there have been countless reports of paranormal activity at the castle.

Now Edinburgh Castle has been named as the most 'Instagrammable' haunted place in the world in a new poll.

The ranking, conducted by researchers at online comparison service Cryptorush ahead of Halloween, used Instagram hashtag data to identify the 38 most Instagrammable haunted places in the world.

The eerie spots blend history, architecture, and ghostly legends, making them both haunting and photogenic.
