A Glasgow restaurant and bar will stop serving food in a bid to 'realign' their focus.

Somewhere by Nico was opened by restaurateur Nico Simeone of the Six by Nico brand as an immersive cocktail experience.

First opening in March 2024 on Byres Road, the bar aimed to bring customers an 'innovative' experience with six-stage cocktail tastings, themes and storytelling, and sensory mixology - all with paired dishes.

However, Nico has decided to make some changes to Somewhere and they will no longer be serving food alongside drinks.

He explained the reason for this as serving food 'affected our cocktail creativity' as they 'shifted more towards' food rather than drinks.

In a message to customers, Nico wrote: "First and foremost, thank you for being part of our Somewhere community and joining us on this incredible adventure as we travel through new worlds to bring you immersive cocktail experiences.

"We created Somewhere by Nico out of a passion for crafting experiences that inspire connection, unity, and inclusion. Building upon the same foundations and ethos as Six by Nico, we aimed to incorporate the qualities that make us unique, such as a theme that changes every six weeks and an accessible fixed price point.

"However, with Somewhere, we wanted to go a step further by drawing inspiration from new and novel worlds through the art of multi-sensory mixology and cocktails."

He continued: "Our goal is to be known as the most extraordinary cocktail bar and venue, offering a unique and immersive experience like no other.

"Since launching Somewhere by Nico, I’ve felt that our proposition has become unclear. Our focus shifted more towards food, which unfortunately affected our cocktail creativity and consistency.

"For this, I sincerely apologise. To realign with our mission, we’ve decided that the future of the brand will be dedicated solely to curating and delivering the best cocktail-only experience."

Somewhere by Nico was one of three new openings for the Glasgow-based brand, alongside fish and chips spot Sole Club and a new flagship Six by Nico in the Merchant City which opened last year.
