Billy Joel will perform in Edinburgh for the first time in 46 years after announcing a gig at Scottish Gas Murrayfield in 2025.

The singer will perform at the home of Scottish Rugby on Saturday, June 7 next year and it’s one of just two shows in Europe in 2025.

The last time the 75-year-old played in Edinburgh, he performed at Usher Hall but it will be a much larger crowd at Murrayfield next year.

Alongside his gig in Edinburgh, his only other show in Europe next year will take place in Liverpool at Anfield Stadium with tickets for both going on sale on Friday, October 4.

Known for songs such as Piano Man, We Didn’t Start The Fire and Uptown Girl, the American has been performing for more than 50 years including one a month at Madison Square Gardens in his home city over the past decade.

The final show there came in July in front of a sold out audience and he’s now embarking on a tour in America over the coming months before his two dates in the UK next summer.

He is the latest star to perform at the stadium in Edinburgh following Taylor Swift's run of gigs there this year, and Oasis announcing their tour to perform there on three nights next year.
