Proposals for more than 300 new homes on the site of a former school have been brought forward.

The £70 million-plus plan would bring a new neighbourhood to the site of the former secondary school.

The site at Greendykes Road in Edinburgh covers the now-demolished Castlebrae High School and playing fields.

It said: “The City of Edinburgh Council is looking to develop a residential led scheme on the site of the former Castlebrae High School, located in the north east locality, off Greendykes Road.

It added: “The council is considering procurement options for the site in order to identify the most appropriate route to market for the delivery of this opportunity.

“The current ambition for the site is to deliver 307 affordable and private for sale units.”

The Craigmillar school relocated to a new community campus.
