A hotel that has been owned by the same family for more than 60 years has been put on the market.

The 12-room hotel in Scotland’s “sunniest region” has been put up for sale as the husband and wife owners move to retire.

The firm is inviting “offers in the region of £275,000 for the freehold interest”.

Barry McNeil, director of Cornerstone Business Agents, said the firm is “delighted to confirm the sale of the Elbow Room in Kirkcaldy, Fife”. The hotel was sold off an asking price of £450,000.


Landmark Scottish city pub changes hands

 

A landmark traditional pub in the Scottish capital has been bought by an established operator in the sector.

Jessie Mays, which was formerly known as the Station Bar and is located on busy Gorgie Road, has been purchased by Martin Proudler, owner of the Brass Monkey bars in Edinburgh city centre and Leith.

Martin has exciting plans to refurbish and convert the pub into the latest Brass Monkey bar.”

Simon Watson, business agent at Christie & Co, said: “Following a completely off-market process, we are delighted to have secured a new experienced tenant for our client. The new venture is exactly what the Gorgie area needs, and I would like to wish Martin and his team all the best with their new venture.” The value of the deal was not disclosed.
