The transformation of Paisley Central Library into a state-of-the-art facility was the winner of the Judges’ Special Recognition Award when The Herald Property Awards for Scotland took place in Glasgow last night. 

The reworking of the traditional library space by Renfrewshire Council, Hub West Scotland, Collective Architecture and CCG Scotland was just one amongst many inspiring projects across the country that were recognised during a glittering awards ceremony in the Doubletree by Hilton, Glasgow. 

The event, which was supported by Redwood Marketing, LocaliQ and s1homes, was a celebration of the highest standards in home and commercial building across Scotland and other winners on the night included Burns Road in Cumbernauld, where the replacement of outdated tower blocks with affordable homes on behalf of Sanctuary Scotland, was named Affordable Housing Development of the Year, sponsored by NHBC. 

The completion of 101 new council houses and shared equity homes by Renfrewshire Council and AS Homes won the ‘Best Regeneration Project - Residential’ sponsored by Prime Property Auctions, while Corrieknowe Meadow, a spacious, energy-efficient villa by Crosbie Homes at Campsie Dene Lane in Blanefield, won the Best Family Home (Large) award, sponsored by Vision Spaces. 

Throughout the evening, which was also sponsored by Ross & Liddell, Daw Signs, Hyperoptic, Landmark Scotland, outstanding projects and people within the industry, were recognised by the judges for their contribution to Scotland’s built landscape with the rebuilding of the famous Rosebank Distillery in Falkirk by MLA named ‘Best Regeneration Project - Commercial’ and Plot 3A at Dundashill, a new development of 90 homes in Glasgow, built to Passivhaus standards by CCG (Scotland) and Collective Architecture, named winner of the new Excellence in Sustainability award, sponsored by Lowther Homes part of Wheatley Group.
