An iconic St Andrews hotel is set to become the "unofficial clubhouse" for the town's university golf programme.
Overlooking the 18th hole of the Old Course, Rusacks St Andrews has become an official partner of Saints Golf which hosts more than 350 members from the University of St Andrews. From this academic year the hotel will provide a place for members to gather, and a venue to host visiting teams and events.
Saints Golf provides opportunities for beginners with its partners the St Andrews Links Trust up through to support for elite golfers. The programme's golf scholarships give players the support needed to elevate their game while pursuing academic studies.

“I am thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership with the iconic Rusacks St Andrews hotel," said Ian Muir, director of golf at St Andrews.
"This collaboration is a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, reflecting the
deep-rooted heritage of St Andrews while embracing the forward-thinking vision that drives our golf team. Together, I look forward to championing excellence at the Home of Golf.”
Lucy Jamieson, captain of the Saints first team, said it will be an "incredible honour" to wear the Rusacks St Andrews logo as part of the partnership agreement.
"The hotel, standing proudly above the 18th hole of the Old Course, is a true symbol
of St Andrews' legendary golfing tradition. Being associated with such an iconic landmark fills us with immense pride, and we feel privileged to represent an establishment so deeply rooted in the history of our sport.”

generation of elite golfers," hotel general manager Seamus Coen said. "Attracting a younger and diverse group to the sport is the way of the future and we feel honoured to be a part of that process.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
