A pro-Palestine protester was dragged to the ground and removed from the Labour Party Conference during Rachel Reeves speech.

The Chancellor was addressing the conference in Liverpool when a young male stood up and began shouting criticism aimed at her.

The protesters were heard shouting about how they still sell arms to Israel and urging them to stop.

He shouted:“We are still selling arms to Israel, I thought we voted for change.” Others started chanting “Stop arming Israel” in the background as the Chancellor tried to restore order.

Reeves responded: “This is a changed Labour party, who represents the people and not a party of protest.

“We are a government today because we changed our party and we now have the chance to change our country for the better.

“We’ve had years of protest, we’ve had years of division and decline that left working people worse off.”

That resulted in widespread applause from those in attendance, including Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

A campaign group called The Climate Resistance has claimed responsibility for the protest which disrupted Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ conference speech.

Sam Simons, a spokesman for the group said: “Labour promised us change – instead we’re getting more of the same. The same pandering to the fossil fuel industry; the same arms licences that are fuelling a genocide in Gaza, and the same austerity that sees the poorest hit hardest.

“It’s time for Labour to start putting the needs of people before the interests of profit. That means immediately stopping arms licences to Israel, blocking new oil and gas, and standing up for the communities already being devastated by the climate crisis.”
