Scottish housebuilder Miller Homes has announced the purchase of land for a major new development.

Miller has made the acquisition for its planned Greenacres development, in Sauchie just outside Alloa, a 12.76-acre site which will feature 122 energy-efficient, new-build homes.

Construction is due to begin later this month.

Miller Homes noted this was its “first venture in this location”.

It said: “Located to the west of Sauchie and north of the River Forth, the site will feature a mix of four and five bedroom homes from Miller Homes' latest portfolio, making it an ideal location for families.

“With good local amenities and exceptional commuting options to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling (less than 10 miles away), and Dunfermline (15 miles east), the new community is anticipated to be highly sought after.”

Miller Homes said it would “spearhead the first phase of what will become a comprehensive masterplan that will deliver over 1,000 homes in the coming years, creating a vibrant new community”.

Andrew McArthur, regional operations director for Miller Homes Scotland West, said: “This is our first development in Clackmannanshire. As more families seek semi-rural living options, areas like Sauchie, surrounded by some of Scotland’s most beautiful countryside, are becoming increasingly popular. Greenacres will lead the initial phase of the masterplan, ultimately providing hundreds of much-needed, new energy-efficient new homes for the area.”

Homes will be ready to “pre-reserve” this autumn, Miller Homes said.
