Aspire Technology Solutions is looking to recruit further in Glasgow following the acquisition earlier this year of Cloud Cover IT, a managed service provider based in the city.

The company said it will be moving into larger offices in central Glasgow this autumn and will be looking to create further new jobs following a 35% boost to headcount in the city after taking over Cloud Cover in January. Headquartered in Gateshead with additional offices in London and Leeds, Aspire currently employs more than 280 people.

“Glasgow is a dynamic and rapidly evolving city, and our new office in the heart of the city centre will mark an exciting chapter for Aspire," chief executive Chris Fraser said. "This move will enable us to better serve our customers, accommodate our growing team and continue our expansion in Scotland."

Serving more than 1,900 customers, Aspire reported a 24% increase in revenues to nearly £40 million for the year to the end of February. This was driven by a 97% year-on-year increase in income from cybersecurity.

The acquisition of Cloud Cover was completed for an undisclosed sum and was supported by private equity firm LDC, which took a "significant minority" stake in Aspire in March 2022 that valued the business at £85m.

Cloud Cover was founded in 2013 by Lance Gauld, who continues as operations manager. As part of the takeover deal, the company's software development and business applications division was rebranded as Flyte.

“Our move to the new Glasgow office reflects our dedication to enhancing the experience for customers in the region," Mr Fraser added. "We are confident that our strategic initiatives, coupled with our relentless commitment to delivering exceptional value to our customers, will drive further growth.

"Our focus on cyber security and modern workplace solutions remains a top priority, as businesses increasingly rely on secure and accessible data in an ever-evolving threat landscape. We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead.”
