A young boy had to be taken to hospital after being hit by a van in what police are describing as a hit-and-run incident.  

The youngster was treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, after being struck while crossing the town’s King Street on his bike.  

The boy was in the company of a young girl, but she was not involved in the incident. The occupants of the van got out to check on the boy and then drove off. 

The boy was discharged from hospital after being checked by medics.  

Police are now probing the incident, which happened at 3.15pm on Tuesday, 3 September, 2024, and are looking to speak to the drivers of the white Berlingo van involved in the collision.

Officers say the occupants were male and were wearing purple tops. It is is believed there were several members of the public who witnessed the incident, and officers are appealing for them to get in touch.
