Anderson Strathern has moved to build on a “very successful” year to date with a flurry of promotions.

The Edinburgh-based law firm has appointed five new partners and three directors in moves it said would strengthen its services across several growth areas, boosting its rural, private, public and third sector, real estate, employment, private client, and energy teams.

The new partners include Karen Craig, who has moved up through the ranks of the firm’s rural land and business department, Gillian Harkness-McKinlay, a corporate, commercial, charities and public law solicitor, and Anne Lawrie, who has a broad range of real estate experience. Also making the step up to partner are Jon McGee, a member of the commercial real estate team in Glasgow, and Robin Turnbull, a specialist in employment law accredited by the Law Society of Scotland.

The firm's new directors are Shirley Evans, who provides specialist advice on property and commercial litigation matters, Laura Murray who works in the high-net-worth team within the private client department, and Stuart Orr of the rural land and business team, who specialises in renewable property work.

Fraser Geddes, chair of Anderson Strathern, said: “We’ve had a very successful 2024 to date, moving our Edinburgh team to a new state-of-the-art headquarters in Capital Square and opening an office in Kirkwall, Orkney to boost our growth across the Highlands and Islands.

“We’re aiming for continued growth in 2024/25, and our newly promoted directors and partners will support those ambitions. We are proud of our continued commitment to promoting talent from within the business.”
