A family has sold a "well-performing" traditional fish and chip shop in a historic Scottish town.
It comes after the operator established the takeaway as “one of the best in the area”.
Cornerstone Business Agents handled the leasehold sale of Cello’s Fish and Chip Shop in Larbert, near Stirling.
David Higgins, director of Cornerstone Business Agents, said: “This was originally a Harry Ramsden's unit, the first take away I believe in Scotland but the offering did not seem to work here until our client Marcello took over the business in 2017 and established it as one of the best in the area.
“Having sold a fish and chip shop in Peebles for Marcello's father, Mario a few years ago it was great to act for the Ventre family again with this one and now Mario can definitely retire after helping out here since his sale.
“Best of luck to Riccardo with his new business, looking back we spoke three days after the business went on the market, six months later we got there.”
The town of Larbert has a long history that includes Roman occupation.
The value of the deal was not disclosed but the premises were marketed at a leasehold guide price of £135,000, and an £18,000 annual rent.

New Scottish distillery hails double whisky launch
A new Scottish distillery has hailed the launch of two whiskies.
The whiskies are launched along with the chance to invest in a cask at an open day with the whisky maker in person and other events on Saturday.
The first new whisky release is the Inverdarach “Ardgowan Open Day 2024” which is a 2013 vintage Highland Single Malt bottled at 10 years old.
Whisky maker Max McFarlane has selected four first-fill sherry hogsheads, creating a whisky that is “wonderfully sherried without masking the original distillery character.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
