A man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of an Edinburgh mum who is now ‘believed to be dead’.

Khasha Smith was last seen to be safe and well on a FaceTime 11 months ago on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. The 35-year-old was then reported missing in January 2024 and police now believe she is dead.

Her body is yet to be found but following extensive enquiries they are sure that she is no longer alive. Police Scotland have confirmed they have arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with her death and the investigation is ongoing.

The woman’s family have been made aware and it is requested that their privacy is respected. Earlier this week, a specialist team of officers searched an area in the Calder Grove area of Edinburgh while looking for the missing woman.
