Around 300 bus drivers are set for a significant pay uplift after a successful series of talks

Unite the Union confirmed on Wednesday 4 September that around 300 Stagecoach drivers in Strathtay and Perth have overwhelmingly backed the pay rise which has been described as “inflation beating”.

The 16-month pay deal will see Stagecoach drivers across Strathtay and Perth receiving a 7.1 per cent pay award with the deal coming into effect on 1 September 2024.

The pay deal was supported by 77 percent of Unite’s membership, and will now bring the driver's basic hourly pay up to £15 per hour, and the overtime rate will similarly increase to £18.26.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “The pay deal is a significant boost to our Stagecoach Strathtay and Perth members’ take home pay. This is another win for Unite in driving up the jobs, pay and conditions of our members in Scotland’s bus industry.”

Stagecoach has also committed to reviewing the existing pay deal in August 2025, with a potential view for an additional pay increase.

However, it will depend on the company’s financial performance over the next year.
