AN “iconic” parish church and estate in North Lanarkshire, billed as suitable for development, has been put up for sale.
Bargeddie Parish Church, based in a “strategic and convenient location” close to the M8 motorway and railway station, includes four detached buildings and an extensive plot of land to the rear of a self-contained, 2.5-acre site.
It has been brought to the market by Shepherd Chartered Surveyors.
The agent noted that the church on Manse Road features an open-plan worshiping area on the ground floor, with a full gallery positioned on the first level and administrative offices to the rear.

A church hall, located adjacent to the Parish Church, provides an open plan space on ground floor level with amenities such as kitchen/prep area, toilets and storage space at the rear. The hall also features a timber-framed mezzanine.
The estate also includes two residential dwellings near the main entrance, Shepherd said. The smaller dwelling is a two-bedroom residence that has recently undergone refurbishment, providing a modern living space with a kitchen, living area and a bathroom.
The larger dwelling spans two floors, offering multiple rooms, single bathroom and has the potential to be repurposed as four flats.

Calvin Molinari, agency surveyor at Shepherd, said: “The property offers various opportunities for both development and existing use. We are delighted to be involved in another iconic sale following recent success in disposing of the former United Free Church in Shawlands.”
Shepherd noted the area surrounding Bargeddie has recently undergone significant residential redevelopment with housebuilders such as Barratt Homes developing close by.
Coatbridge, around three and half miles away, is the nearest town to the property, and provides access to national retailers such as Tesco Extra, Asda, B&Q and Aldi for Bargeddie and the surrounding area.
