Independent Scottish accountancy practice Gilliland and Company has appointed Anne Smith as a business services partner as it pursues growth.

Ms Smith joins the firm from accountancy firm Azets, where she was a partner.

She specialises in advising small and medium-sized enterprises, owner-managers, and entrepreneurs on the financial issues which affect the management and operation of their business, Gilliland and Company noted.

The firm was established in 1988 by Richard Gilliland.

It noted Mr Gilliland “has overseen a period of consistent and considerable growth within the firm and remains committed to continue this expansion in the future”.

Mr Gilliland said: “Anne is joining us at a time of growth and expansion within the firm. She has considerable experience in leading and managing a team dedicated to assisting business owners with their financial priorities.”

“Working with a wide variety of businesses and directors across the central belt, she has a particular focus on financial reporting, corporate and personal tax, VAT, employee and director remuneration, as well as cash-flow forecasting for investment. An advocate for technology, Anne embraces cloud accounting technology to help clients operate and manage their business more effectively.”
