VisitScotland has appointed a new director of marketing and digital shortly before there is a change of leadership at the organisation.

Jill Walker, currently head of marketing at the Scottish Government, will succeed Vicki Miller, who will shortly step up to become chief executive of the tourism marketing agency. Ms Miller will replace Malcolm Roughead, who will retire at the end of September after 23 years with the organisation, and moves into post on October 1.

Ms Walker, who starts with VisitScotland on October 21, joins with “extensive” experience of both the public and private sectors in senior marketing and digital marketing roles. In her current position at the Scottish Government, Ms Walker is said to have led some of Scotland’s “most high-profile and innovative” marketing and digital initiatives.

This supports our core purpose to drive the visitor economy, growing its value to Scotland.

“Jill will lead our marketing directorate, working closely with teams right across the organisation as well as stakeholders the length and breadth of the country. She will also become an integral part of my new leadership team, helping to realise our vision in creating better places for people to live, work and visit.”
