The owner of an iconic Glasgow nightclub due to close its doors for the last time says he has been ‘overwhelmed’ by requests for one final party.

The Shed is closing down after 26 years as part of the nightlife on the Southside of the city, with a final event on Saturday, September 14.

Owner Michele Pagliocca said he had been contacted by people far from Glasgow looking to take part in its last bash, with some cutting holidays short to make sure they can be there.

After opening in the 1990s, The Shed became a mainstay in the city’s Shawlands entertainment scene, and was hugely popular with daytime football crowds heading towards Hampden in Mount Florida.

Mr Pagliocca said that “thousands” of requests had been made for tickets for the final night, with the nightclub now preparing a series of events in the run up to shutting down for good.

He said: “We’ve had people reaching out from all over Glasgow and beyond, with some cutting holidays short to be here.

“Customers are sharing their memories and asking how they can be part of this final chapter.”
