A community trust on one of the most beautiful Hebridean islands is offering the chance to lease a three-bedroom farmhouse with 27 acres of land.

The isle of Gigha lies between the Kintyre Peninsula and Islay, and has just one town, Ardminish.

The island itself has been community owned since 2002, with an elected board of voluntary directors managing and developing the assets of Gigha and taking forward plans and projects for the community.

The Isle of Gigha Heritage Trust is offering Achavinish Farmhouse for lease, a smallholding with a three-bedroom house, outbuildings and around 27 acres of agricultural land.

The island is known for its fertile soil, with its land completely without trees from 1700 until 1850.

The Trust said: "Achavinish Farmhouse and land has been in community ownership since the buy-out in 2002.

"The majority of land and properties within the Trust’s ownership are leased in order to enable individuals and businesses the opportunity to create their own rural lifestyle, whilst enhancing the use of a community asset."

Those interested in leasing the farmhouse should email shona@gigha.org.uk or telephone 01583 505390.

A Marketing Pack and viewings information will be issued upon request. The deadline for applications will be 5pm Monday 30th September.
