Pottery fans in Glasgow could be in for a treat as part of a new arts festival coming to Glasgow next month.

The Craft Pottery Sister Studio Festival will be help from September 24 to 29 at the Axiom Building on Washington Street and it will bring an array of ceramic themed activities to the city.

The Craft Pottery, in collaboration with its sister studio, The Craft Pottery Studio, will host a series of events that will have Glaswegians getting their hands dirty and creating some of their own artwork in the world of ceramics.

Don’t expect a recreation of the famous Ghost scene with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore, but you’ll plenty to get involved in and Beth Hoad – director of the Craft Pottery – can’t wait for it to start.

She said: “In the nine years we’ve been operating The Craft Pottery, Glasgow’s love of ceramics grow and grow – that’s why we decided to create a festival all about pottery.

“We love working with our sister studio, The Craft Pottery Studio, who will be offering a range of practical workshops and demonstrations throughout the week.

“There are events for people of all skills and experience, so whether you’re a seasoned potter or a complete beginner, we hope there’s something for everyone at our week-long celebration of all things ceramic!”

Anyone who attends the festival can look forward to a variety of interactive experiences, including kiln tours, live pottery wheel demonstrations, and hands-on workshops where budding enthusiasts can try their hand at ceramic earring making, tile painting, and even a cowboy boot and hat class.

For people who want to do something unique, there’s a chance to paint your own Croc Jibbitz and take a spin on the wheel with expert-led lessons. The festival also features the return of a city-wide scavenger hunt, which is a Craft Pottery fan favourite. On the Sunday of the festival, DIY pottery kits will be hidden across Glasgow, waiting for participants to discover them.

And for those who enjoy a bit of competition with their creativity, a pottery-themed pub quiz will be on offer, challenging teams to test their knowledge while enjoying a pint at the studio.
