An award-winning Glasgow restaurant will become the first of its kind in the city this Autumn as its owners announce plans to take over the B&B operated within the same historic building.
Celentano’s by co-owners Dean and Anna Parker will next month evolve into Celentano’s Restaurant with Rooms as the husband and wife team takes charge of the eight en suite bedrooms at Cathedral House, previously run for several years by Laura and Shane McKenzie.
The A-listed, 1896 Scottish baronial style building is a former half-way house for female prisoners many of whom were suffragettes and political activists of that era.
The Herald last month reported that Celentano’s had celebrated its third anniversary in the on-site restaurant, where the team serves a menu Italian inspired, ingredient led dishes.
In a joint statement, the Parkers said: “This is such an exciting time for the Celentano’s journey and a fantastic opportunity to help showcase what a great foodie city Glasgow is.
“Over the years we’ve welcomed Cathedral House B&B guests for a meal or a cocktail in the courtyard and so when the prospect came round, we felt it was a natural progression with the chance to streamline our offering.
“We’re looking forward to the challenges and opportunities this next step presents.”
Situated over two floors, the bedrooms provide a combination of three superkings, three doubles, one twin, and a cosy loft double.
Each will be given the “Celentano’s Midas touch” throughout to create a “relaxed, comforting foodie haven” in the city with culinary themed artwork by SShepaints of Brighton, as well as small fridges filled with thoughtful extras.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
