British-American comedian John Oliver made a surprise appearance at an Edinburgh comedy club on Friday evening.
The stand-up comic and political commentator is best known in the US for hosting satirical late-night talk show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
Oliver took to the stage as a surprise guest at The Stand during its 'Late Club' late-night comedy show on what was the last Friday of the Edinburgh Fringe.
The much-loved venue, which has been on the go since 1995, took to social media to share the news of the guest appearance.
The post read: "The last Friday of the Fringe called for something special, and it doesn’t get more special than John making a special appearance that marked 20 years since his show ‘Political Animal’ with us alongside Andy Zaltzman in ‘04."
