Two people are due in court today after police seized a stash of cannabis worth nearly half a million pounds.

Police Officers in North Ayrshire have seized a quantity of cannabis with an estimated street value of around £400,000.

Acting under a warrant, police searched a property near Beith at around 9:30am on Thursday 22 August, and recovered the drugs which were in excess of 60kg.

A 54-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man were arrested in connection with the recovery will appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court today.

A 23-year-old man was also arrested and later released without charge.

Detective Inspector Gordon Smith said: "Police Scotland is committed to removing all illegal substances that cause harm from our communities and will take all measures to disrupt those involved.
