A new sports and whisky bar offering all-day dining and live entertainment has opened in Glasgow’s Princes Square this month.
Located on the second floor of the Buchanan Street shopping centre, The Clubhouse is the latest venture from The Superlative group which also operates venues including Glaschu, Gost and the Duke’s Umbrella across the city.
The space has been equipped with 12 large HD screens showing a variety of sports such as golf, rugby, football, F1 and tennis while live music will be hosted between Thursday and Saturday each week.
Joanne Leslie, senior retail business manager for The Superlative Group said: “We are delighted to be able to bring this venture to the city centre.
“For ages, we have discussed the gap in the market for a premium environment in which people can watch sports.
“We know from the first weekend of trading that we have an offering that is filling that gap, and the feedback has been incredible.”
Head of drinks development for The Superlative Group, Ewan Angus, has curated a drinks offering that encompasses an extensive whisky range whilst also creating a cocktail menu with its own ‘Masters’ section.
The Clubhouse also offers a range of draught beers as well as being the first venue in the UK to stock Starnberger, a craft Helles beer from Bavaria.
Across breakfast, lunch and dinner the menu progresses from filled morning rolls and baked potatoes to hearty “clubhouse classics” including sausage and mash with onion gravy and butter chicken curry.
John Molloy, director of food said: “There was a definite need for somewhere with sport but with a quality, yet relaxed food offering.
“The menu is fun with loads of ‘Clubhouse’ classics; however, we also have a few left-field items to keep it interesting.
“The doner spring rolls are a must try.”

In May this year, The Superlative Group launched the Maison by Glaschu restaurant on the top floor of Princes Square.
A sister restaurant to Glaschu in the city centre, Maison serves a brasserie menu with a touch of French flair complemented by a sophisticated cocktail list.
Molloy told the Herald: “There’s definitely a clientele for this style of food, things like lobster or fruit de mer that’s very well done but in a more casual setting.
“It’s all made using the same brilliant produce as Glaschu but in a totally different style which makes it more accessible.
“Because of our shopping centre location, it had to be that way.
“We couldn’t open some weird little oddity of a restaurant.”
