A 40-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car while lying on the ground on Wellington Lane in Glasgow on Tuesday.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were on the scene around 2.40pm yesterday afternoon following a report of a woman, lying on the ground, who had been struck by a car. The driver of the car was uninjured and the woman’s family have been informed.

Inquiries have established the woman was dropped off in Wellington Lane prior to her being struck by the vehicle. Her death isn’t being treated as suspicious but a post mortem will be carried out in due course.

Police are now appealing for any information as they look to provide answers to the woman’s family on what has happened.
