Athletes from across Scotland will be competing in a range of categories at the 2024 Paris Olympics and Eilish McColgan will be among them.

The 33-year-old middle and long-distance runner has won a number of medals at various tournaments, including the Commonwealth Games.

With only days to go before the international sporting event kicks off, here is everything you need to know about the Scottish athlete.

Who is Scottish athlete Eilish McColgan?

Eilish McColgan is a 33-year-old middle and long-distance runner from Dundee who has represented both Scotland and Team GB at events like the Commonwealth Games and Olympics.

McColgan started to make a name for herself after competing in the 2006 Scottish Schools Championships where she won a silver medal in the 1500 meters.

Soon after, she won a bronze medal at the International Under-17 Schools Championships.

After suffering a major knee injury at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games in India, which took her a year and a half to recover from, she made her senior debut at the 2011 European Team Championships in Sweden.

However, it wasn't until she competed at the 2012 London Olympics and 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games that she started to become a household name.

She has since taken part in the European Championships in Berlin and Munich (2018 and 2022) where she won both silver and bronze medals.

She also won gold medals at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games and the 2021 European 10,000m Cup.
