THE Open is back for another year, seeing some of the biggest names in golf go head-to-head to be crowned champion.

The competition is being held at Royal Troon in Ayrshire after being hosted in Liverpool last year.

Beginning in 1860, the annual event was originally held at Prestwick Golf Course before it started rotating between coastal links across the UK.

If you're unable to attend but still want to catch all the action, here is how to watch the tournament from the comfort of your own home.

How to watch The Open as it returns to Royal Troon

The Open at Royal Troon will be available to watch on Sky Sports Golf with live coverage taking place throughout the tournament.

Wall-to-wall coverage will begin at 6am on Thursday and Friday ahead of the opening tee shot at 6.35am.

The live-action will continue until 9pm on both dates. There will also be bonus programming to enjoy.

On Saturday, coverage begins at 9am and will run until everything is finished (via early play live on the red button). Viewers will also be able to enjoy "Saturday at The Open" which will feature shot centre challenges, special guests, fun features and more.

The same offering will also be available for Sunday's final round which will start at 8am.

Once all the action is complete, coverage will continue with "The Open Verdict" which will include additional analysis.
