Michelle Mone has insisted she is still a member of the Scottish Conservatives despite repeated denials from the party.
A spokesperson for the peer told The Daily Record she still had a standing order with the party and continued to pay membership fees.
They said she had never left the party or been told that her membership had been withdrawn.
The SNP has now called on Douglas Ross to make a personal statement to parliament on the matter.
They said there were urgent questions for the Scottish Tory leader to answer.

Baroness Mone was made a peer by David Cameron in 2015, and was tasked with being his "startup tzar."
She is at the centre of a scandal involving the UK Government's procuring of vital personal protective equipment during the pandemic.
PPE Medpro, run by her husband Doug Barrowman, was awarded contracts worth more than £200m to supply PPE to the NHS.
The firm is now being investigated by the National Crime Agency (NCA).
The company, made profits of around £60m on the deals, They are also being sued by the Department for Health and Social Care for £122m plus costs for "breach of contract and unjust enrichment".
The firm won its contracts after Lady Mone recommended it through the so-called High Priority, or “VIP Lane”, a few days after it was set up in May 2020.

Last month, the Baroness admitted lying to the public about her involvement in PPE Medpro.
She told the BBC she made an “error” in publicly denying her links to the company. She defended the cover-up by saying that lying to the media is “not a crime”.
The SNP's Kirsty Blackman said news of the standing order was a "bombshell revelation" that would be "the nail in the coffin for the hapless Scottish Tory leader, given this chaotic mess is happening on his watch".
The Aberdeen North MP added: "Michelle Mone says she has a live standing order to the Scottish Tories.
"If she is no longer a member, as the party claims, then what is Douglas Ross doing with this money?
"Are the Scottish Tories content with the source of this money, or will they return it? When did Douglas Ross last speak to the disgraced peer?
"These questions need urgent answers and the public interest in this matter is overwhelming.
"Douglas Ross must now deliver a personal statement to Holyrood to set the record straight, exactly as he and his crooked party have demanded of others.
"The truth must now be laid bare for the public to assess for themselves."
A Scottish Conservative spokesperson said: “Our records show that Michelle Mone is not – and never has been – a paid-up member of the Scottish party, as we have repeatedly stated.”
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
