Four women have been arrested after an alleged incident of vandalism at a supermarket in Glasgow.

The activist group This Is Rigged is calling for supermarkets to reduce the price of baby formula to March 2021 prices, as well as demanding the Scottish Government fund a community food hub per every 500 households.

On Wednesday three people were arrested in connection with an incident at Edinburgh Castle and later charged. They were expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday.

On Thursday morning a demonstration was held on Buchanan Street in Glasgow where there was an alleged incident of vandalism.

The street was closed off as police officers attended the scene.

A spokesperson for This Is Rigged said: "A quarter of Scots have experienced food insecurity in the past year. Supermarkets are increasing prices far beyond normal inflation, making record breaking profits during a cost of living crisis.

"Thousands of children (arguably 'the most vulnerable') are being rushed to hospital by ambulance for malnutrition. In a f*****g dystopian move, some Sainsburys have installed exit barriers that hold you hostage in the shop until you scan your receipt.

"Parents are being criminalised for having to steal baby formula, which has risen an average of 24% since March 2021.
