Police have launched an investigation into the sudden death of a 15-year-old school girl.
Officers said the death of the North Berwick High School pupil did "not appear to be suspicious".
Officers raced to North Berwick Law on Monday evening after the alarm was raised.
The East Lothian Courier reports the council would provide guidance and support staff to pupils at North Berwick High School to offer support.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 6.15pm on Monday, October 23, police were called to North Berwick Law area following the sudden death of a 15-year-old girl.
“The death is being treated as unexplained, but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
A spokesperson for East Lothian Council, said: “North Berwick High School received sad news of the unexpected passing of an S4 pupil last night.
"The school community’s thoughts are with their family at this most difficult of times.
“Guidance and pupil support staff are on hand in school to offer additional support to any young person who needs it.”
