Whether you are a student enrolling at one of Glasgow’s many universities or simply looking for a great night out, the nightclub is a vital part of the city’s amazing nightlife.
While cities like Edinburgh offer a good night out, nothing quite beats the variety on offer in Glasgow.
We have rounded up some of the city’s best clubs which are among the greatest anywhere in the U.K.
7 – Firewater
Since 2001, this Sauchiehall nightclub plays all the classic genres, ranging from 1970s disco to old Rock'n'roll.
With two dance floors and a kitchen, Firewater is an excellent place to eat out during the day and party at night!
6 – The Garage
The garage is one of – if not – the most popular nightclub in Glasgow and boasts that it is the “biggest,” “busiest” and “best” night out in the city.
With 6 different dance floors spread over 4 levels, The Garage is certain to play something you like and cater to a large group of friends with wildly different music tastes.

5 – Cathouse Rock Club
Cathouse describes itself as “Scotland’s foremost and original rock club” on its website and it is easy to see why.
For over 30 years, Catty has been at the forefront of rock music in Scotland, with huge club nights and live gigs to suite all rockers.

4 – Kokomo
Kokomo, at the heart of Glasgow’s classy Merchant City, is a fantastic place to let your hair down if you are a student and love a bargain.
Every Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Kokomo hosts free entry for students and offers drinks for as little as £1.
3 – The Polo Lounge
This LGBT-friendly club is a city institution and offers a night out for every day of the week.
The club is known for hosting drag shows on “Lipstick Sundays,” chart music nights on “Camp Tuesdays” and cheesy pop events on “Popworld Thursdays.”
2 – The Buff Club
The Buff club is a casual nightclub which plays old school sing-along tunes in a laid-back kitsch atmosphere.
Put simply, Buff Club is the perfect place for a fun and relaxed night out in Glasgow’s city centre.
1 – Sub Club
Sub Club is the longest running underground dance club in the world and was voted the 10th best club globally by Resident Adviser.
With its mix of indie music and live performances from the likes of Franz Ferdinand and LCD Soundsystem, Sub Club remains a focal point for Glasgow’s thriving alternative scene.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
